Day 1 Continued

Monday 16th November 2009

Well, it's almost the end of day 1 and I'm feeling great! I have a new positive outlook on life and I love it.

My day started at 14:30 this afternoon when I woke up. (Today was my first day off from work so I always have a lazy day, hence why I slept so late!) As I woke up so late, I missed breakfast and lunch so didn't have any. (Yes, I know...very naughty. Will be having both tomorrow!) Had my first pint of water for the day shortly after waking up (currently supping away at my 5th as I write this). I haven't drunk this much water in ages. I can't stop pissing!

Didn't have any food in the house so had to go shopping. Went about 17:30 and had a banana on the way (1 of the 5 a day). Bought lots of healthy stuff; not seen my trolley like that in years! All this healthy stuff is bloody expensive though!

Got home and made myself dinner. Had a couple of small baked potatoes with beans, cheese, salad and coleslaw. It was really yummy and filled me up. (I find the best way to cook the potatoes is to put them in le micro for 15 mins then put them in the oven for 20 mins or so to make them crispy.)

After dinner, I sat and had a think about what sort of exercise regime I could come up with. I don't feel confident enough yet to go out and join a gym (nor do I have the money!) so I'm going to have a go at doing some home exercise first. I decided that walking/biking would be the best thing for me to start with. I bought my bike about 2 years ago and have used it maybe once. It's been sat gathering rust on my balcony ever since. Tomorrow morning I'm going to see if it still works...I hope so. It cost me £200! We also have a nintendo wii in the house with a wii fit board, so I'm going to try and do 30 mins exercise a day on it.

I decided that the way I would probably work things would be to go for a walk one night then bike the next night then walk the night after and so on. I figured a mile would be a good start so plotted a route in my head. I then went out in the car to measure it and make sure it was roughly that distance. My planning was very good, it was just over a mile.

At 20:00, once my dinner had settled, I set out for my walk. 21 minutes later I was back at home. I thought it was going to take much longer than that! The great thing was that I really enjoyed it and can't wait for tomorrow to do it again, hopefully on the bike. (I think I may do it twice on the bike, 2 miles.)

When I got back, I was feeling a little peckish so got some fruit. Had some strawberries, banana, raspberries and pineapple chunks with some fat free natural yoghurt. It was yummy and now I'm stuffed. It's surprising how eating the right sort of foods in moderation can fill you up so quickly. I couldn't eat another thing even though in reality, I have barely eaten a thing today.

Just chilling now with the TV and my water but feeling really great about things. I hope that it continues to be as easy as it is feeling right now (even though I know it won't be)

Looking forward to tomorrow! Hopefully I can get that bike running...

  1. Pissing a lot is a great sign, lol. Means your body is flushing out toxins. Just try to stop an hour or so before bed time or you'll never get any sleep. Or just invest in adult diapers and rubber sheets, lolol!!! I agree with you, eating healthy is hella expensive!!!! I think there's some kind of international conspiracy going on. Mcdonalds, Burger King, and other fast food chains have that damn Dollar Menu, but it costs an arm and a leg for fresh fruits and veggies!!!
Congrats on an amazing first day. Fingers crossed for a proper functioning bike xoxo
